Moosin God of Martial Arts: Moosin MMA Pudzianowski vs Sylvia Live
Moosin God of Martial Arts: Less than seven minutes into his third mixed martial arts bout, the former World's Strongest Man couldn't take it any more.
Trapped underneath former UFC champion Tim Sylvia on the ground, Mariusz Pudzianowski (2-1) tapped out after eating several right hands on Friday at the Moosin God of Martial Arts show in Worcester, Mass. The end came 1:43 into the second round.
Moosin God of Martial Arts: Pudzianowski vs Sylvia Live
It was the second consecutive win for Sylvia (26-6) after a two-year stretch that saw him lose four of five fights. "I'm back now," Sylvia said. "I've been back."
Moosin promoted the fight as a test between the experience and striking savvy of Sylvia, twice a UFC heavyweight champion, against the brute force of Pudzianowski, a five-time winner of the World's Strongest Man competition. But it was Pudzianowski's cardio fitness that let him down.
Fighting in his native Poland a few weeks ago, Pudzianowski appeared to tire out as he struggled to a decision win. It happened again tonight.
Pudzianowski from the start sought to clinch with his opponent and look for takedowns, but Sylvia stuffed most of his attempts. The extended wrestling sequences drained the muscular Pudzianowski, who found himself thrown to the ground and trying to survive Sylvia's ground-and-pound attack in the final minute of the opening round.
Barely a minute into the second round, Pudzianowski flopped to the ground after Sylvia got close and simply put a hand on him. Sylvia quickly put himself in side control, spun across to the other side and started dropping right hands until Pudzianowski submitted.

Brute $9.99 From the earliest days of his thirty-four-year military career, Victor "Brute" Krulak displayed a remarkable facility for applying creative ways of fighting to the Marine Corps. He went on daring spy missions, was badly wounded, pioneered the use of amphibious vehicles, and masterminded the invasion of Okinawa. In Korea, he was a combat hero and invented the use of helicopters in warfare. In Vietnam, he developed a holistic strategy in stark contrast to the Army's "Search and Destroy" methods-but when he stood up to LBJ to protest, he was punished. And yet it can be argued that all of his these accomplishments pale in comparison to what he did after World War II and again after Korea: Krulak almost single-handedly stopped the U.S. government from abolishing the Marine Corps. |
