In the world of collegiate sports, one rarely thinks of women's wrestling as being a major category. One university is trying to change all that, however. Oklahoma City University will launch a women's wrestling varsity program this fall. It will feature scholarships and a coach that it shares with the university's renowned men's wrestling team.

The coach, Archie Randall, has been coaching men's wrestling for many years now. Recently, Randall hosted a women's wrestling camp at the university. Twenty-five of Oklahoma City's best female wrestlers attended the camp.

In a recent interview, Randall noted the differences between coaching men and women. Chief among them was the fact that the women seemed to be a lot more responsive to the coach's advice. He affirmed that they seemed a lot more willing to do whatever it takes to win the game. Many of the women who will attend OCU's newest sports program are coming from all male programs around the country, and are thus eager to explore female styles of wrestling.
