How to Buy MMA Mats – What to look for
Mats are a very important part of training whether training Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), wrestling, judo or striking. So, when you buy MMA gear, be sure to include the proper mats on your shopping list. They prevent injury as well as stop the wear and tear on your body. Training on mats that do not provide enough padding and protection can punish the body unnecessarily and can have you taking more time off because of injury. But what mats should you get when you're equipping yourself to train and buying the MMA gear you'll need?
The first thing you need to decide is what the mats are going to be used for. Typically the more impact you're going to have with the mats, the more padding you will need.
Judo/BJJ Gi & No Gi – Judo and BJJ use mats with a good amount of padding. Because Judo has a lot of twisting movements and pivoting off the balls of the feet, they use mats that are more firm but thick. It prevents you from rolling your ankles and twisting your knees. BJJ starts on the ground so there is less impact involved unless your doing No Gi and beginning on your feet (wrestling). Judo mats come in pieces of approximately 3' by 6'. Because these mats come in pieces, you can start with just a few, if that's what you can afford and add more later. That's one great thing about MMA mats, is that when you buy MMA gear, you don't have to buy all of your mats at once. You can buy just one or two to start, so you have a small space to do some technique on. Then, when you're ready to stock up and buy more MMA gear, you can get a few more, until you have all of the mats you'll need to fill your space.
MMA-When doing MMA in a cage, the cages typically come with matting specific for that cage. However, you can train MMA on wrestling mats or Judo mats. Wrestling mats will protect you from any high impact, but it is risky because you can roll your ankles or twist your knees. Judo mats will give you a more firm platform which is safer for ankles and knees but is a little harder on the landing of any takedowns. Judo mats would be more efficient because of the fact that they provide an all around protection even on impacts. As long as there is no slamming, they are usually pretty safe.
Wrestling Mats-Wrestling mats by far offer the best protection on high impact training. They are very thick and well designed to absorb impact and prevent injuries. This is typically used for Wrestling and No Gi Jiu Jitsu.
Mats are a very important part of training, so when you buy MMA gear and equipment, you've got to invest in the best mats you can afford. Trying to save money on mats will result in poor training and probably a lot of injuries. Be sure to get the proper mats for the training you're doing and training will be much more efficient and enjoyable.

Officiating Wrestling $4.76 Few athletes can match the intensity that wrestlers bring to the mat. As a wrestling official, you're expected to bring that same intensity to your craft. That means knowing not only the rules but also the mechanics for applying them. "Officiating Wrestling" breaks down the mechanics of officiating the sport to ensure that you're in the right place at the right time to make the right call. Based on officiating mechanics devised and endorsed by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), "Officiating Wrestling" is the definitive guide for new and experienced high school wrestling officials. Included are guidelines for what's expected of you as a wrestling official, officiating procedures and responsibilities, pre- and postmatch duties, and equipment and safety regulations. Several chapters are dedicated to mechanics, supported by more than 100 photos and illustrations showing positioning, mechanics, and signals. Real-life cases demonstrate correct rulings, point out common officiating errors and how to avoid them, and challenge you to make the right call in match situations. A glossary of key wrestling terms is also included. "Officiating Wrestling" is not a rules book--it's a practical resource for implementing correct mechanics as developed and approved by the NFHS. An added bonus is a special section explaining freestyle for both men and women, as well as Greco-Roman, and the differences between these styles and folkstyle wrestling. |

Pin (Amateur Wrestling) $97.19 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A pinfall, a pin, or a fall (the first term most commonly used in professional wrestling) is a victory condition in various forms of professional wrestling that is met by holding an opponents shoulders on the wrestling mat for a prescribed period of time. In professional wrestling, a pinfall is a common method of winning a match and typically must be held for a count of three by the referee (though the staged and entertainmentbased nature of the sport makes this a somewhat ephemeral requirement). The purpose of a pinning maneuver is to hold the opponents shoulders against the mat for a count of three. The count is broken (a nearfall) if the opponent manages to raise one or both of his shoulders off of the mat, commonly by kicking out (throwing their legs up to cause their shoulders to rise from the mat). In some positions, a wrestler may bridge (arching their back so that only their feet and the top of their head are touching the ground) to put more of their weight on the pinned opponent or to prop themselves up from being pinned.
